Cow Products in Ayurveda
Cow products play an important role in Ayurveda. Five major products are 1. Kshira (milk), 2. Gomutra (cow urine), 3. Gobar (cow dung), 4. Dadhi (curds, sour cream and yogurt) and 5. Ghrita (ghee, butterfat). They have different properties and are used alone or in various preparations as medicinal remedies.1 In Ayurveda, only "happy" cows are used as the source of these products, that is, cows that are well treated and not killed.
